On this page, you will find proper techniques to perform in a lab and the scientific method.
Lab Safety Know-How
1) Eye protection is MANDATORY when participating in a lab when working with chemicals. 2) NEVER use an open flame near flammable chemical, materials, etc. 3) Clean up any spills made in the lab IMMEDIATELY. 4) Wash hands before AND after the lab. 5) The proper way to smell chemicals is to 'waft' the scent to your nose. 6) Handle broken glass cautiously. Dispose of the broken equipment in a broken glass disposal box/container. 7) Wearing closed footwear, shirts with long sleeves, and hair tied up is very much preferred to prevent any interference in the lab. 8) Make sure you are very familiar with the location of a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and exit before doing a lab. 9) Eating, drinking, and ingesting any chemicals are perilous. 10) If in contact of chemicals, thoroughly wash hands, afflicted area, and/or take a chemical shower!
Steps of the Scientific Method
1) Make an observation. 2)Research. 3) Form a hypothesis! 4) Test out your hypothesis. 5) Record your information. 6) Make a conclusion, and 7) Repeat!
